Bengals have a coat unlike any other domestic cat — short, unusually dense and lying so flat that it feels more like a pelt than fur, with a natural gloss to the rosetted markings. It sheds little and mats essentially never, so coat maintenance is minimal. The real grooming challenge with a Bengal is behavioural: this is an athletic, high-drive, endlessly curious cat that has no intention of standing still, and many of them actively like water, which makes bath time interesting in an entirely different way.

Bengal fur lies so close to the body that heavy brushing does nothing useful and can irritate the skin. A rubber brush or grooming glove used weekly is genuinely all this coat asks for.
Bengals climb, jump and investigate constantly. Sessions work best short and in a small, closed, boring room with nothing to leap onto — a bathroom is usually ideal.
Bengals use their claws far more than most indoor cats, on furniture, curtains and anything vertical. Regular nail trimming is the single most practical grooming service for this breed, both for the cat and for your upholstery.
The glossy sheen is a big part of a Bengal's appeal, and in dusty Indian cities it goes flat between grooms. An occasional bath and a chamois wipe restores it; a persistently dull, greasy or flaky coat is worth a vet's opinion.
